The gentle morning sunlight, the still-damp grass, the quiet shade of the tree. The beauty of the day itself seemed to honor the solemnity of the occasion.  

They stand upright. They breathe. Like us humans, they are made of mostly water. What are they? 

New home. Boxes unpacked. Dining on home cooked meals. Life had found its rhythm. Sort of. We were also experiencing hard things back-to-back. 

“You have a lump on your neck that needs to be checked out immediately,” the doctor said as he discussed with me the results of the thyroid ultrasound he had just performed.
